Adoption Process & Fees
We pride ourselves on making the very best matches for our dogs & cats, many of whom come from situations of neglect. Our primary adoption goal is to place rescue animals where they can be beloved companions and family members.
Adoption Process
-
Complete an online application via our website. Completing an online application is the first step and does not obligate you in any way.
-
An adoption coordinator will contact you. Applications are regularly reviewed, but please allow up to one week for processing.
-
Once you have spoken to an adoption coordinator, we’ll call your references and veterinarian to ensure that your current/previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for. For renters, we’ll check with your landlord to verify applicable pet policies, and whether there are any size or breed restrictions. Due to Covid-19, home checks are currently virtual.
-
If everything looks good and you want to proceed, we will arrange a Meet and Greet. We require all members of the adopter's household, including current dogs, to meet our adoptable pets in person and therefore prioritize applicants in the Savannah, GA area. Some dogs recieved MANY applications and we are only able to contact those selected for consideration. We try to be fair to all applicants while looking out for the best interests of the dog. If you have questions about the status of your application, please send us an email.
-
After a successful Meet and Greet, with all parties agreed, we will complete your adoption with a contract, payment, and transfer of medical records.
-
It is our hope that adopters will join our community of adopted Renegades by participating in pack walks (for the dogs), providing updates, and keeping in touch with foster families.
-
Make sure to join our Renegade Reunion Facebook page!
Adoption Guidelines

Adoption Fees

Senior Dogs: $150

All deposits and fees are nonrefundable
Kitten (2-6 mos): $100

Adult Cat: (6 mos - 10 yr): $75

Senior Cat: (11 - 14 yrs): $50

Why is it so much? We hope you see the adoption fee as a way to pay it forward. We take in many animals in desperate need of expensive medical care. We will never turn a dog or cat away because of their heartworm status or health, but sometimes the adoption fee doesn't begin to cover the costs associated with our program. This donation allows us to provide the highest levels of veterinary care and training to dogs in our care.
What is included in your adoption?
Upon adoption, all dogs & cats are microchipped with lifetime registration, spayed or neutered, and fully vaccinated. For dogs this includes Bordetella (kennel cough), DA2PP, and rabies vaccinations (age permitting). For cats this includes Feline 1-HCPCh and rabies vaccination (over 3 months).

All dogs are heartworm tested, and all dogs & cats receive monthly flea/heartworm prevention and appropriate veterinary care throughout the duration of their time with Renegade Paws Rescue.

Additionally, all cats are tested for Feline AIDS and Leukemia.

Adoption fees help offset the medical, transport, supply, and other expenses associated with rescuing our animals. The expenses for each rescued animal almost always exceed our adoption fees.

Please note that adoption fees are not tax-deductible. All payments must be processed through ShelterLuv software.
